L.A.M.P. – Lowell Area Mission Project We’re a church committed to living out our faith by loving and serving others. Jesus called us be a “light on a hill" and we continue to a beacon of Christ’s Light in the Lowell area. The Lowell Area Mission Project (L.A.M.P.) returns in August 2012 with a focus on neighbors in the Key Heights area once again. You’ll want to mark your calendars and plan to participate: Friday, August 10 through Thursday, August 16. This week is a mission trip to our own community. We’ll be doing a variety of projects, yet to be determined. Our goal is simply to put our faith in action by serving others unconditionally. We are hoping to work in fewer homes, (Last summer we were in 36 homes) but to accomplish more extensive improvements. Many who participated last year remarked that it was “an incredible experience", and through the hard work, it was also “fun." It is amazing what we can accomplish when working together. Do you remember that in 2011 we accomplished over 100 different tasks as we logged hundreds of volunteer hours and added an estimated $75,000 worth of improvements. But more than that, we met new people, made new friends, expressed Christ’s love and touched a section of our own community. You’ll be able to volunteer for the times that meet your personal schedule: morning, afternoon or evening and for the days which work for you, too. We’ll be recruiting people in June and July. There is need for a wide variety of skills, from cooks to carpenters to cleaners and clerks. Watch for more details in the weeks ahead |
